Octafluoropropane (C3F8)

C3F8
Octafluoropropane is a colorless gas with the chemical formula c3f8, used for filling vitreous cavities after vitreous cutting, as well as for high pressure insulation, refrigerant, plasma dry etching. It is a strong oxidizing agent that can be used to produce compounds such as nitrogen trifluoride and boron trifluoride, and has many application scenarios in the industrial field.

Product Details

Octafluoropropane is one of the ideal ophthalmic gases. It is mainly used to fill empty vitreous cavity after vitreous cutting. At the same time for high voltage insulation, refrigerant, plasma dry etching. In the plasma etching process, it is used as the etching gas of silicon dioxide film and phosphorus silicon glass film. Octafluoropane is an organic compound with the chemical formula C 3 F 8. It is a product of propane where all 8 hydrogen atoms are replaced by fluorine atoms. It is a colorless gas that is stable at room temperature and pressure, has a low melting and boiling point, a density of approximately 8.17g/L, and a refractive index of 1.221. Octafluoropane is insoluble in water and is a strong oxidant, which can be used to produce compounds such as nitrogen trifluoride and boron trifluoride. In addition, it has many application scenarios in the industrial field.

Storage conditions
Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from sparks and heat sources. Moisture-proof and sunscreen. It should be stored separately from flammable and combustible materials.
Stability
It can be regarded as a non-toxic gas, but inhaling high concentration gas has an anesthetic effect. When burned together with combustible gas, it decomposes to produce toxic fluoride. When poisoning is found, the victim should be immediately transferred to a pollution-free area, and if necessary, artificial respiration should be administered. Seek medical attention.
Transportation precautions: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from sparks and heat sources. Moisture-proof and sunscreen. It should be stored separately from flammable and combustible materials. Pay attention to checking the container for leaks during normal times. Wear a steel cylinder safety helmet and shockproof rubber band during transportation to prevent collision and damage to the cylinder.
Preparation of octafluoropropane
In the reaction furnace equipped with activated carbon, slowly introduce high concentration fluorine gas, and control the reaction temperature through electric heating, fluorine supply rate, and cooling of the reaction furnace. After dust removal, alkali washing, and dehydration, the reactants can be obtained to contain crude C3F8. The crude product is subjected to intermittent low-temperature distillation to extract C3F8, and then molecular sieve is used for low-temperature adsorption dehydration to obtain high-purity C3F8.
